Vietnam e-visa for citizens of Hong Kong

Are you going to Vietnam anytime soon and you’re wondering how to apply for a Vietnam e-Visa? Then you’ve gotten to the right place. Here, we will present you with the necessary steps you need to take in order to apply for the Vietnam e-Visa. The process is simple and fast to get, which is the reasons why international travelers prefer this type of visa.

What is the e-Visa?

The Vietnam e-Visa is an electronic travel document that’s valid for 30 days, from the proposed date of entry that you indicated on your application, and is issued in PDF format. Citizens of 46 countries are allowed to apply for this type of visa and Hong Kong is one of them. The e-Visa is highly popular because everything is done online, it only takes about 3 business days to get the visa and you can enter via 28 different ports. However, if your visa is denied, you won’t get a refund. This type of visa is also non-extendable. If you want to stay in Vietnam for longer than 30 days, it might be better to get a Visa on Arrival or go to the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. If you’re not going to enter Vietnam by air, and want to for example cross to Vietnam by land, you cannot get an e-Visa. It’s only applicable for people who are flying in to Vietnam.

How long does it take to process the e-visa for Hong Kong passport holders ?

You should have it processed within 24 working hours. In some cases it may take up to 72 hours, so as soon as you know when you’re going to Vietnam, you should apply for a visa in order to have enough time for you to receive the visa before departure, preferably one week in advance. This way, you may avoid any trouble with receiving the visa too late or having the wrong e-Visa information, etc. There are also ‘emergency visas’ you can apply for if you need it urgently, but an extra fee will be charged.

How much does the e-visa cost for Hong Kong passport holders ?

The fee is 34 USD for tourist e-visa. Once you’ve applied for the visa online, you will be asked to pay the fee. There’s no extra charge at the airport.
