Vietnam e-visa for Canadian citizens

All Canadian citizens are required to obtain a Vietnam visa before traveling to the country. But Luckily, Canadian citizens can apply for an e-Visa, which is a new and improved method to get a travel visa to Vietnam. You don’t even need to leave your home in order to get the Vietnam e-Visa and the application only takes a few minutes. Once it’s been approved, the e-Visa permits tourists to travel freely throughout the country up to 30 days. Additionally, this e-visa also covers various categories of travel beyond business and vacation.

Those with a Canadian passport who wish to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days or multiple-entry visa, please choose to apply for visa on arrival because the e-visa is single entry for 30 days staying. The difference is that with a single-entry, you can only stay for the duration of one to three months, while the multiple entry grants numerous stays within a three month period. So if you know you’d like to visit another country and then come back to Vietnam, the best choice is to get the multiple-entry visa.

Besides getting the e-Visa, you can also choose to go to the Vietnamese Embassy. This requires you to apply in person though and you’ll have to book an appointment, print out the application and carry sensitive documents to the consulate. If you forget any important documents, you’ll have to re-do the process again. Therefore, this option is a bit trickier than getting an e-Visa.

Please note that, in order to obtain a VOA (Visa on Arrival) which one applies for pre-approval letter and picks up the visa once you’re in the country. Although it’s a great option to obtain a visa, keep in mind that you might have to wait in long queues at the Vietnamese border points in order to stamp your visa.

To avoid long queues at the airport, you can choose “On Arrival Support” or “Airport Fast track Service”. Our staff will meet you in front of the “visa on arrival” desk with a welcome board, then take care all procedures necessary to get the visa stamped on your passport.
